Salted liquorice meringues are a perfect Halloween treat! The beautiful colour is easy to create by painting the inside of the piping bag.
SALTED LIQUORICE MERINGUES
2 egg whites (medium size)
1 dl caster sugar
(2 tsp salted liquorice powder)
Orange paste food colouring
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 90 degrees celsius (194 degrees F). Place a closed star nozzle into a piping bag. Paint the inside of the piping bag with some orange paste food colouring.
Whip the egg whites until foamy. Add the sugar a tablespoon at a time and whip with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form and the meringue is glossy. Carefully fold in the salted liquorice powder.
Pour the meringue into the piping back and pipe small meringues on a baking tray covered with baking paper. Bake in the middle of oven for a one hour and then turn the oven off and let the meringues dry in the oven.
