Time to bake gingerbread cookies! Build gingerbread Christmas tree or a gingerbread wreath! This royal icing works perfectly for decorating cookies!
GINGERBREAD COOKIES
2 dl dark suryp
2 dl sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 tbsp clove
1 tbsp ginger
1 tbsp cardamom
250 g butter
1 egg (medium size)
about 10 dl flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
ROYAL ICING
1 egg white (medium size)
3-4 dl icing sugar
(edible colours)
INSTRUCTIONS
Measure the suryp, sugar and spices in a kettle and bring to a boil. Add the butter and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
Add the egg to the suryp. Mix all dry ingredients and add them to the dough. Let the dough rest in the fridge over night.
Preheat oven to 175 degrees celcius. Roll the dough into a thin sheet and cut shapes with cookie cutters. Bake in the middle of oven for about ten minutes.
Mix the egg white and icing sugar with a spoon. Add icing sugar until the consistency is good for piping. You can colour the royal icing with edible colours.
